The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking candidates for one Biologist III position within the Division of Environmental Assessment Bureau of Water Quality. This position will have flexibility to work remotely consistent with Department policies.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This position provides program supervision and oversight for the Lakes Assessment Unit in the Division of Environmental Assessment. The units responsibilities include lake water quality monitoring data management data interpretation and report development and presentation. The position is responsible for conducting or overseeing monitoring and research pertaining to the health of Maines lakes including the assessment of trends in lake water quality evaluation of threats to lake water quality and exploration of methods to more effectively protect and restore lakes. Position also oversees quality assurance contracts and work plan related to the Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program and Maine Lakes LakeSmart program. The position conducts project reviews and provides input in the development of monitoring plans to satisfy discharge license conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors Degree in Biology Wildlife Management or related field -AND- four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a related biological field including experience in a supervisory capacity. Directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
