Job Description
$15.50/hour. Once hired direct this is union position.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
- Collect trash recyclables hazardous waste s metal and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers or storage rooms.
- Segregate sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills recycling centers and other disposal sites.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
- Clean and maintain the organization and compliance of the 90-day Accumulation Area including sweeping the floor mopping the floor and labeling drums.
- Assist the supervisor in responding to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids sweeping or vacuuming solids and containerizing cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
- Assist the Resource Manager with daily supply delivery waste pick-up and waste organization.
- Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during inspections.
- Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
- Document and inform the Resource Manager of any contamination in the plant s recycling and waste containers.
- Maintain and complete necessary documentation of waste inventories inspections and other required activities.
- Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
- Operate a burden carrier.
- Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
- Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One-year experience in waste management.
- Any equivalent combination of experience training and/or education.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
Preferred Forklift experience. MUST be willing to be trained on forklift either way.
