We are looking to recruit an Electric Infrastructure Specialist to apply electrical engineering and infrastructure management expertise to design implement and maintain robust electrical systems for ferry operations and related facilities ensuring safety reliability and compliance with maritime regulations.
This role is crucial to the success of a significant international euro-based project in Lagos State.
Job Objective
The objective is to enhance operational efficiency minimise downtime and support the sustainable growth of the ferry business through innovative solutions effective project management and a commitment to continuous improvement in electrical infrastructure.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
•Electrical System Design: Develop designs for electrical systems for ferry terminals vessels and related infrastructure including power distribution lighting and emergency systems.
•Load Analysis: Conduct load analysis to determine electrical demands and ensure systems can handle peak loads while maintaining efficiency.
•Renewable Energy Solutions: Explore and integrate renewable energy sources (e.g. solar wind) into the ferry operations and infrastructure to promote sustainability.
•Project Oversight: Manage the execution of electrical infrastructure projects from planning and budgeting to implementation and commissioning ensuring they meet organisational goals and timelines.
•Coordination with Contractors: Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure that electrical installations are completed to specification on time and within budget.
•Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures during construction and installation phases to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
•Regular Inspections: Conduct routine inspections and assessments of electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability and identify areas for improvement or repair.
•Preventive Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure to minimise downtime and prolong equipment lifespan.
•Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose electrical issues and promptly oversee repair work to resolve outages or malfunctions.
•Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all electrical systems comply with relevant maritime regulations safety standards and environmental policies.
•Safety Protocol Development: Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures for electrical work ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
•Incident Response: Participate in emergency response planning and execution related to electrical failures or safety incidents ensuring readiness and compliance with safety guidelines.
•Interdepartmental Coordination: Work closely with marine operations terminal management and engineering teams to align electrical infrastructure with operational needs and customer service goals.
•Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies regarding electrical infrastructure projects updates and compliance requirements.
•System Monitoring: Implement monitoring systems for real-time assessment of electrical system performance including energy consumption and load management.
•Performance Reporting: Generate reports on system performance maintenance activities and compliance audits for management review identifying trends and areas for improvement.
•Technology Integration: Stay informed about advancements in electrical technologies and systems integrating innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
•Training and Development: Provide staff with training and guidance on electrical systems safety practices and new technologies to promote a culture of safety and efficiency within the organisation.
•Budget Planning: assist in developing budgets for electrical projects and maintenance activities and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with financial goals.
•Cost Analysis: Analyze costs associated with electrical operations and identify opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements.
