Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client a growing public accounting firm. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse clients across various industries while advancing your career in both tax and audit services. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise client relationship skills and a passion for mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement Management
- Manage and oversee client engagements in tax and audit services
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication
- Ensure client satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional services
Tax Services
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for:
- Individuals
- Corporations
- Trusts
- Non-profit organizations
- Individuals
- Conduct preliminary tax research and planning
- Draft client communications and technical memos
Audit & Assurance
- Support financial audits across specialized industries including:
- Non-profit organizations
- Low-income housing projects
- Employee benefit plans
- Non-profit organizations
- Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements
- Analyze financial trends and assist in preparing pro forma financial statements
Team Leadership
- Mentor and coach junior staff members
- Review work products and provide constructive feedback
- Support professional development of team members
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
- Certification: CPA designation required (or actively pursuing)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience in tax and/or audit
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations
- Software: Proficiency in accounting software (Lacerte and Checkpoint experience preferred)

The successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes: Bachelor's degree in related field and current CPA license preferred. Master's degree (e.g. MBA, MAcc, Finance) a plus 3-5 years of transaction services experience and 6 years of overall accounting experience. Exceptional Excel skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Consultative approach and client service oriented Team player Self-Directed, autonomous, motivated Entrepreneurial spirited and ambitious Exceptional and proactive communicator (verbal & written) Ability/willingness to travel as needed (approx. 15%)
