LDC is recruiting for Material Handlers to start June/July 2025 to support ongoing Canola Crushing operations as well as expansion efforts in Yorkton SK Canada. Material Handlers are responsible for receiving unloading distributing loading and otherwise handling all products that enter or leave the facility. This position is responsible for operating all equipment used for those activities in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with government regulations and company standards.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Load meal oil distillate and any other products moving within or leaving the facility.
- Assist with Seed Receiving including grading activities as assigned and unloading trucks and railcars.
- Operate the locomotive(s) and switch railcars within the facility.
- Operate other Power Mobile Equipment (PME) including skid steers and front-end loaders.
- Work in an organized safe and clean manner ensuring work area is clean and free from all safety hazards.
- Responds to equipment issues or alarms investigates and initiates resolution. Conducts in process quality control tests enters data into the electronic data system and operates the HMI in the plant.
- Operate assigned equipment perform regular checks and log inspections of equipment and immediately report any damage or other maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with Company safety and food safety rules by self and others. Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) as required in fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
Secondary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Work with plant management to assist in the smooth operational running of the facility.
- Assist with general sanitation and shutdown activities throughout the facility as needed.
- Additional duties include but are not limited to general responsibilities in all areas of operations procurement quality health & safety refinery transportation logistics internal & external maintenance of facility.
- Actively participate in Shift/Team activities including complying with best practices standard operating procedures development and maintenance and continuous improvement efforts as well as job-related training as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Previous work experience in an industrial environment is required.
- Previous Rail experience is be preferred.
- Must have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Must participate in shiftwork rotations and overtime in a facility which has continuous operations working 200 hours in a 5 week period including day and night shiftsweekends holidays etc.
- Must be able to work at heights as well as frequently climb stairs and ladders as required for the responsibilities of the job.
- Must be able to withstand extended periods of walking and standing.
- Must be able to move lift push pull and grasp manufacturing materials products and equipment of 50lbs or more which may require regular bending and crouching.
- Able to thrive and work in diverse challenging and changing environments including hot/cold outdoors/indoors varying degreesofdirt dust odor sound etc.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude effective oral and written communication skills and basic numerical skills are required.
- Well-organized self-motivated and action oriented.
- Committed to working safely efficiently and effectively within a team environment.
- Must possess a passion for the agriculture industry and ambitious to grow with a company.
