Job Summary:
The MEP Electrical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all electrical installations on a construction project are compliant with relevant codes project specifications safety regulations and quality standards. This role involves detailed inspections coordination with contractors and engineers and documentation of all work performed.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect all electrical systems (power lighting fire alarm BMS ELV etc.) during different stages of construction.
Ensure electrical installations comply with design drawings project specifications codes (NEC IEC BS local authority codes) and safety standards.
Monitor electrical work to ensure proper techniques materials and installation methods are used.
Conduct routine and final inspections and generate detailed inspection reports.
Coordinate with contractors consultants and project teams to resolve technical issues and NCRs (non-conformance reports).
Witness testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
Ensure all electrical works are performed in accordance with approved method statements and ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans).
Attend site meetings to review progress compliance and quality assurance issues.
Maintain inspection records daily logs punch lists and other documentation as required.
Support the handover process including verification of as-built drawings O&M manuals and system certification.
Qualifications :
Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Certification from a recognized body (e.g. NEBOSH NFPA LEED or equivalent) is a plus.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in electrical inspection preferably in MEP or construction projects.
Experience with international standards (e.g. NEC NFPA BS IEC).
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of electrical systems and MEP coordination.
Attention to detail and strong observation skills.
Knowledge of construction documentation and QA/QC procedures.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with health and safety practices in construction.
Excellent communication reporting and teamwork abilities.
Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of inspection software/tools is a plus.
