Work Model: Hybrid 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 
Shifts: Monday to Friday 
Status: Permanent Full Time

Position Summary: 

The Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRCI) will support the daily operations of clinical trials at Toronto Western Hospital (TWH) under the guidance of the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) Research Manager and Medical Lead. This role contributes to both individual study activities and broader CRU initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence across TWH. The CRCI will work closely with study teams investigators and patients playing a vital role in the successful execution of research projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about both engaging with patients and TWH study teams.  

Duties: 

  • Coordinate and support study start-up activities including preparation and submission of ethics applications and facilitate Institutional Authorization 
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholdersincluding sponsors monitors investigators patients caregivers and research study teams to provide timely and professional support 
  • Facilitate participant screening recruitment informed consent and enrollment procedures in accordance with study protocols and UHN guidelines 
  • Coordinate all aspects of patient visit scheduling as per study protocols 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date study documentation including source documents case report forms (CRFs) and regulatory binders in compliance with ICH-GCP and Health Canada 
  • Facilitate data collection entry and query resolution activities to maintain high-quality databases 
  • Support regulatory inspections and audits by organizing the visits responding to inquiries and implementing corrective and preventative actions  
  • Contribute to the implementation of CRU strategic initiatives aimed at improving research efficiency quality and compliance across departments 

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree or recognized equivalent in a health or science-related discipline 
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical and/or professional experience including at least 1 year of clinical research experience required 
  • Experience coordinating Health Canada-regulated clinical trials and supporting monitoring visits audits and regulatory inspections is required 
  • Proficiency in venipuncture with valid training and certification in accordance with UHN policy is an asset 
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (e.g. ACRP or SOCRA) is an asset 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research regulations and guidelines such as Health Canada Division 5 legislation ICH/GCP Tri-Council Policy including UHN policies 
  • Experience working with patients or participants in a research environment 
  • Client service-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and value different perspectives and backgrounds 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a range of stakeholders including patients healthcare providers and sponsors 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
