Job Summary:
Operates nuclear detection and imaging equipment and prepares radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear radiologic studies to provide the physician diagnostic images of the structure and function of the heart or other organs and body structures to identify and/or plan appropriate treatment for the patients condition.
Incumbents use a gamma scintillation camera or scanning imaging devices to monitor the characteristics and functions of tissues or organs in which the administered radiopharmaceutical drugs localize. Work is performed under the strict safety/regulatory/license departmental standards and protocols.
Incumbents are also accountable for maintaining quality control for all imaging equipment and radioactivity assaying devices and maintaining their knowledge of the frequent technological and innovative changes in the field of nuclear medicine through participating in continuing education seminars meetings and in-services.
