Job Description

FLSA:Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Masters degree and/or public school Type A or B Level Certification in Speech Pathology
2. Valid license issued by the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology

REPORTS TO: Special Education Supervisor

JOB GOAL: To provide professional service through which pupils having speech language and/or hearing disorders may be helped to more effectively respond to academic training

TERM: Nine Months

SALARY: Nine Month Teacher Salary Schedule

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Instructional Responsibilities
A. To provide speech/language screening assessment of public school students
B. To become familiar with each assigned students specific evaluation strengths and
deficits as evidenced by the childs comprehensive evaluation and IEP information
C. To prepare and maintain in the classroom daily lesson plans which shall promote
systematic growth in fundamental knowledge and skills
D. To establish student long range goals yearly with short term objectives to be developed
during the year on the schools regular reporting period and documented on the IEP
E. To prepare and schedule a specific number of instructional periods for each child as
needed and indicated on the IEP
F. To assess and evaluate each students progress on a regular basis
G. To make provision for individual differences by such means as using effective grouping
procedures individualized instruction and utilizing a variety of materials on the students
level
H. To create and maintain a physical environment that is conducive to learning including
attractive and meaningful bulletin boards appropriate seating arrangements cleanliness
and orderliness
I. To demonstrate an understanding of child growth and development respecting the
individuality of each child
II. Management Responsibilities
A. To follow the time schedule of the school being served
B. To sign in and out of school on appropriate forms

C. To meet with parents and/or teachers to promote or effect language learning in children
when appropriate
D. To be responsible for attending any administrative and/or professional meetings called by
the home-based principal
E. To notify principals and the Special Education office in case of absence from work
F. To account for the care of assigned speech therapy materials
G. To be accurate and neat in completing required records and reports and turning these in
promptly
H. To maintain control promote self-discipline and manage time efficiently
III. Professional Responsibilities
A. To attend inservice workshops as mandated by local policies or legislative acts
B. To contribute to and participate in activities or organizations which foster professional
growth whenever possible
C. To promote the educational process as evidenced by the sharing of ideas and materials of
other staff members
D. To maintain and exhibit a positive attitude about the possibility for growth and
development of all students
IV. Personal Responsibilities
A. To observe standards of conduct demonstrating integrity and dependability and observing
confidentiality
B. To set a good example by personal appearance in accordance with parish dress code
C. To maintain self-control and pose and demonstrate ability to adjust to new situations
showing effectiveness under pressure
D. To accept responsibility commensurate with assigned tasks meeting obligations to
students and staff

V. To establish and execute a professional growth and self-evaluation plan
VI. To work effectively with school personnel and staff
VII. To consistently demonstrate self-direction
VIII. To submit accurate records and reports promptly
IX. To exhibit professional ethics
X. To foster open communication and positive relationships with school personnel and staff
XI. To foster open communication and positive relationships with the community
XII. To perform any other duties or responsibilities not listed as delegated by the Principal or
designated person
XIII. To follow state school board and school policies
