Cheerleading Coach Role Description
Position Overview
The Highlands School is an independent Catholic college prep school servicing families from all over the Dallas Metroplex. We are looking to expand our team of Christ centered educators in the following discipline(s):
Qualifications
The Cheerleading Coach should meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Minimum of one year Cheerleading Coaching experience
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Excellent social qualities
- Firm and kind character
- Capacity for managing groups.
Responsibilities
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic Education and the mission of the school.
- Models professional conduct and sensible sportsmanship while instilling the characteristics within team members
- Schedule practices and performances in consultation with the athletic director
- Monitor the physical condition and fitness of participants and report injuries to parents and school officials
- Continually monitor and supervise all activities of the participants at all practices and games
- Teach essential safety skills and strategies to student athletes - monitor safety.
- Communicate with athletic director regarding need for early dismissals field and gym use
- Ensure that emergency contact information is available at practices and games
- Teach instruct and impart knowledge to student athletes of the relevant skills tactics and techniques of the sport as the primary duty of the coaching position
- Motivate student athletes to perform optimally as an individual athlete and team member
- Use approved corrective and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct
- Collaborate with school personnel to enhance the work environment and support academic programming
- Conferences with parents upon request and respond to messages in a timely manne
Reporting Structure
The cheerleading coach will report directly to the athletic director.
