Job Location: Huntsville AL (AMF South Location)
Job Schedule:3rd Shift9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off
Job Description:
This position sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes milling machines precision grinders etc. to make parts mechanisms tools or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Essential Functions:
- Interprets blueprints sketches and engineering specifications.
- Determine sequence of operations number of cuts required and method of setup and arrangement.
- Work with a variety of machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Make shop computations.
- Fit and put together precision parts and determine material parts and equipment required.
- Fabricate piece parts per work instructions drawings and specifications through the use of required machine tools.
- Inspect piece parts per work instruction and drawing requirements.
- Set up and operate machine tools.
- Use adjust clean and store the tools machinery and equipment used.
- Keeps records and reports of the use of equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior machinist experience or Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior machinist experience.
- Experience as a manual machinist on a conventional lathe and CNC machining in an industrial / manufacturing environment.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- A trade school certification or state-licensed Journeyman Machinist certification is strongly desired.
- Manual machining experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of setting up the operation of milling machines and lathes.
- Working knowledge of engineering drawings blueprints production plans and/or work instructions.
- Working knowledge performing in-process inspection of finished parts utilizing appropriate inspection and gaging equipment.
- Knowledge of industry applicable laws codes ordinances and regulations.
- Knowledge of machine tools and equipment machine shop procedures and practices principals and properties. Knowledge of basic mathematic principles to solve problems.
