This role reports to the FMC Corporations Global Project Management & Research Operations group and is part of the Global R&D Organization.
R&D Project Managers have accountability for driving execution of FMCs pipeline from late- stage discovery through development and commercialization. You will lead complex multi-year development programs working across functions including Global Regulatory Affairs Stewardship R&D (Global Regulatory Sciences Development Biology Process and Formulations Chemistry Process Engineering & Analytical Chemistry Analytical Sciences) Integrated Supply Chain Legal Finance and Marketing to assure crop protection products are successfully introduced to the market meeting or exceeding the performance and timeline objectives.
This position is office-based and can be in Newark Delaware at our Global R&D Center or in Philadelphia Pennsylvania at our Corporate headquarters. While the position is based in the USA responsibilities support our global business with opportunities to interface with people around the world with up to 20% of travel.
Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional project teams from late-stage Discovery to Commercial launch for new proprietary active ingredients has overall responsibility for the success of the product program and commercial launch readiness.
Work on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data require an in-depth evaluation of various factors and a high level of business sophistication
Ensure timely updates to program milestones valuation risks and deliverables and work with various stakeholders in preparing scenario analyses
Collaborate with Global Strategic Marketing to assemble business case and project valuation while guiding the team to achieving technical milestones and managing the program through a governance process
Communicate the value of a projects market opportunity competitive landscape and business impact
Develop and update project plans through development lifetime
Plan and review annual budgets and monthly forecasts
Responsible for assembling all key decision-making information and assumptions
Presents project updates to executive leadership and governing bodies for continued funding and advancement
Identify and escalate critical issues that require immediate action
Actively participates in negotiations with critical success partners and/or suppliers for their assigned projects
Follow the defined new product development process and ensure a consistent data set for the assigned projects including: a project plan inclusive of key activities and key milestones a business case commercial assumptions technical assumptions risks a commercial launch plan and post-launch documentation.
Perform duties independently with minimal to no direction and give direction/guidance across the business
Required Education
B.S. in science or engineering preferred
Qualifications
10 years of project/program management experience leading complex projects and dealing with varied stakeholder groups. Experience in new product development and crop protection products considered a plus.
Demonstrated success working across multiple functional disciplines geographic regions cultures and communicating with executive leadership
Able to work independently with enthusiasm to deliver on key milestones in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities
Comfortable with key financial metrics and how to use them to set priorities and drive decision making
Skilled in crafting messages and communicating key concepts themes and information tailored to each stakeholder group (developing executive presentations in PowerPoint should be a strength) tying data to business-driven decisions
Able to manage through influence communication and negotiation
Must have good judgment with the ability to think creatively and strategically
