In this position...
As a Drive Unit Design engineer you will be responsible for design and development of Fords next generation EV drivetrains. You will work within the geartrain and lubrication team developing production hardware. You will own hardware from concept to production with exposure to sourcing validation and ramp.
What youll do...
Design production hardware for drive unit gearboxes such as oil filters windage trays and gear systems hardware.
Optimize the correlation between predicted and measured results by leveraging CAE tools and empirical test resources.
Propose and validate potential system improvements collaborate closely with teams to make sure such improvements are effectively implemented.
Contribute to design reviews test plans and requirement reviews to further optimize the powertrain system cross functionally.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and reports related to development work.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaborate closely with the test engineers and subject matter experts to develop test rigs and test plans to help validate mechanical components.
Youll have...
Bachelors or Masters Degree in mechanical Engineering or related field.
5 years of experience designing developing and validating electric vehicle batteries power electronics or power units.
Experience using simulation/modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink Python GT-Suite ANSYS or equivalent applications.
Experience with instrumentation and measurement of powertrain systems in a lab environment.
Strong sense of ownership.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong first principles understanding
An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.
A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
