Senior Manufacturing Manager E-7A (ITA)

Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Manager (Level L) to support the E-7A Team based in Tukwila WA. Role will be working internationally in Birmingham UK.

Here is a unique opportunity to join the E-7A manufacturing team as an International Travel Assignment (ITA) to lead modification activities of a commercial derivative aircraft on site at a supplier in the UK. This will be a 2-3 year assignment for the 2 rapid prototype aircraft. The candidate will work with the supplier BDUK managers and Puget Sound managers to ensure the daily plan is being deployed and remove any roadblocks the team may have. Must have a strong background in BPS and be able to deploy the tiered structure to ensure everyone knows the plan and elevate help needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead modification activities of a commercial derivative aircraft on site at a supplier
  • Work with management team to ensure daily work plan is deployed
  • Work with supplier to acquire resources required to execute modification
  • Provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Work closely with IE team to review and approve daily mod plan
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes
  • Report out progress to plan to Program
  • Maintain compliance to PRO-9 when dealing with Modification Supplier
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with suppliers customers stakeholders peers partners and direct reports
  • Gathers information concerning previously identified issues coordinate with appropriate resource and track issues to resolution
  • Facilitates work teams provides necessary training and supports problem resolution and process improvement
  • Develops and executes business plans policies and procedures and develops organizational and technical strategies
  • Provides advanced technical knowledge and leadership to manufacturing projects that affect organization efficiency
  • Monitors activities to ensure that suppliers produce conforming and compliant product on time
  • Identifies establishes and maintains priorities for deliveries of products services and data.
  • Communicates across functions to report status and concerns
  • Audits build process to verify compliance to established Ground Operating Procedures
  • Ensures that air vehicles are completed and pass certification for airworthiness by overseeing final component installation systems operation functional testing modification maintenance troubleshooting repair preflight and postflight checks release for flight and preparation for delivery
  • Possess an FAA Airframe and Power Plant License or the aircraft years and experience necessary to obtain an FAA Repairmans certificate

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Leadership experience
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing cost and schedule performance using Earned-Value Management (EVM) principles
  • Experience leading stakeholders in analysis of process data metrics models and flows to identify root cause of complex problems and development and implementation of preventive or corrective actions
  • 1 year of experience in Process Management Lean and/or One BPS experience
  • Strong execution communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • Experience driving results through influence (outside direct reporting structure)
  • Experience using Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM)
  • Experience with project management and self-managing projects.
  • Highly effective communication skills with senior leadership
