The South Dakota Division of Banking regulates the states banking trust and financial services industries to assure that our citizens have confidence in our states financial markets and services. We are seeking an inquisitive individual with analytical and communication skills to join our team of professionals in Pierre.
This position develops maintains and implements internal processes and procedures to allow companies to be licensed and renewed in an efficient manner. Work involves performing a wide variety of analysis and review functions which require the applicant to have sound independent judgment and discretion. This position interacts directly with fellow state regulators to ensure the Divisions policies and procedures are consistent with federal law state law and state to state agreements.
Duties include:
Manage internal data system to ensure integrity of licensee data
Maintain efficient interaction between internal database and nationwide licensing system owned by the states
Extract data and run reports from databases to support licensee monitoring and examination functions
Review and update data reporting processes to ensure the Division has the data necessary to monitor its licensees
Develop and maintain policy and procedure manuals related to licensing processes and databases
Recommend changes to Division processes rules and state laws to keep up with changes in federal law and policy
Daily interaction with Division staff license applicants licensed companies and the general public
Answering telephones and answering licensing questions
Assisting Division staff in the licensing of money lenders mortgage lenders and money transmitters
Reviewing documents forms data and files to ensure accuracy and completeness.
This position will also assist current administrative support to the Division of Banking and the Banking Commission. Work involves performing a wide variety of support and administrative functions which require the application of sound independent judgment and discretion.
Duties include:
Writing and typing correspondence;
Answering telephones responding to routine requests for information and identifying appropriate recipient of calls;
Taking and distributing minutes of the Banking Commission meetings;
Making travel arrangements and handling meeting logistics;
Directing and assigning complaints and information requests to various staff
Assisting personnel in the licensing of money lenders mortgage lenders and money transmitters
Coding revenue and expenses
Reviewing documents forms data and files to ensure accuracy and completeness; and
Processing vouchers for payments and handling routine fiscal procedures.
The location of this position is Pierre or Sioux Falls but Pierre candidates will be given preference. If candidate chosen is in Sioux Falls regular travel to Pierre will be required for initial and ongoing training.
