JOBSUMMARYPerforms skilled work in the diagnosis maintenance and repair of automobiles bussestrucks tractors emergency generators mowers golf carts utility vehicles and other related equipment. Performs duties in the safe operation of a motor vehicleand the transportation of individuals. Work is performed under minimalsupervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and inaccordancewith the UniversityPolicies & Procedures.

ESSENTIALDUTIES-Mayincludebutnotlimited tothefollowing:
Highschooldiplomaor equivalent required. Job-related vocational or technical training preferred.
EXPERIENCEThreeyearsautomotivemechanic StateInspectorpreferred. Job-related vocational training or other education may substitute on a year-for-yearbasisfortherequiredexperience.
REQUIREMENTSMust possess CDL B license and have the ability to attain CDL A permit with Passenger (P) and Air Brake endorsements as issued by the State of Texas within one month and license within the first six months of employment. Must be able to attain State Inspectors license with which to perform vehicle inspections within the first six months of employment. Valid Texas drivers license and a safe driving recordsuchasrequired toattainDrivers Authorizationthroughthe all required DOT pre-employment random reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug andalcohol screens.
Regularandreliableattendance at theUniversityduringregularscheduled daysandworkhoursisan essentialfunction of thisposition.

WORKENVIRONMENTAll employees are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from indoorsand/oroutdoors. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. While performing the duties of thisposition. Work is performed in an auto shop environment. May be required to work in conditionsincluding cold heat temperature swings noise outdoors and indoors and around mechanicalelectricalexplosivefume/odordustandchemicalhazards. Mayberequiredtoworkinlocations that involve hazardous environments requiring protective equipment that conforms toOSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature dust and noise. May berequiredto workingconfined spaces.
SAFETYareresponsibleforcompletingassigned taskssafelyandefficientlyandsupervisorsareresponsibleforcreatingandmaintaining a safe work environment. Employees must report any unsafe work conditions orpracticesaswellasanynear-miss and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to theOfficeofHumanResources andRisk Managementwithin24hoursoftheincident.
