Education

Required - High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required - 1 year experience in customer service

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Excellent customer service skills with ability to remain calm pleasant and helpful in high pressure situations.
• Strong time management skills with ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to effectively work both independently and with a team.

Job Duties

• Assists all patients family members physicians visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
• Answers all incoming calls quickly and pleasantly always clearly identifying self and Ochsner greeting.
• Transfers patients and guests to appropriate department.
• Verifies and registers vendors following policy procedures.
• Reviews all codes regularly and prepared to call codes as directed or per policy.
• Pages/beeps as per policy including but not limited to providers on call.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population including but not limited to: respect for privacy method of introduction to the patient adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
