THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is actively seeking a Security Officer 1 to be a part of our safety and security team at Torrance State Hospital. In this role you will perform a wide variety of safety- and security-related tasks at the hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Security Officer 1 you will work with your fellow security officers to provide a safe and secure treatment environment for the care of individuals with mental illness. In this position you will be responsible for ensuring the safe environment in multiple buildings is maintained as well as responding to emergency situations that may arise. You can expect to staff a control room desk provide information to and screen visitors patrol the campus assist patients and respond to unusual incidents. You will also create detailed incident reports and complete routine logs to record activities. Additionally you will complete a wide variety of shift tasks and routines to ensure operations are following established policy and procedure.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment 40 hours per week
- You will work five days within a consecutive seven calendar day period with regularly scheduled days off to include every third weekend. Work hours are as follows:
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
- 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
- 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:In some cases the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operators license.

Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will requirea medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
