Event Manager
Position Summary
The role of Event Manager is to help coordinate the various aspects of our school activities programs in collaboration with Activities Directors (AD) and Managers.
Job Title: Event Manager
Hourly Wage: $16.00/hour
Reports To: Activity Directors
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old
- Previous experience working at school activities
- Strong Communication skills
- High School Diploma
Essential Functions
- Provide supervision and leadership for effective and efficient event management that fosters a welcoming and safe environment focused on sportsmanship.
- Understand requirements and details of each assigned event.
- Ensure the event facilities are set up and ready for the event.
- Manage all event operations.
- Become familiar with various event layouts.
- Serve as a host to the event officials and visiting schools.
- Supervision of employees and volunteers who work the event as well as the actions of students and fans who attend the event.
- Build strong positive relationships with the public students event workers and staff.
- Model positive sportsmanship and support for our student competitors.
- Engage with a variety of patrons and be able to defuse tense situations.
- Show patrons where to find exits bathrooms and concession stands.
- Be visible throughout the entire event.
- Be attentive to the needs of the event proactively and as needs arise.
- Foster strong communication with all event workers and guests.
- Answer various questions.
- In collaboration with Activities Directors manage weather decisions as necessary.
- Monitor and assist with the event tear down and clean up.
- Provide leadership and directions when emergency situations arise.
- Arrive early to perform all pre-event duties as assigned.
- Touch base with custodians working the event to make sure the facility restrooms and locker rooms are monitored and kept up.
- Tweet event updates as directed by Activities Director.
Other Functions
- Participate in staff development training programs faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work without close supervision.
- Demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Is respectful and appropriately interacts with staff students and visitors.
- Uphold and adhere to safety rules and policies of the Ankeny Community School District safety program.
- Support the goals and objectives of the school district and follow all district policies.
- Demonstrate the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
- Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Working Environment
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: lifting carrying pushing pulling climbing reaching driving standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress.
Supervision
Assumes temporary activity director duties while the activity director is away.
