Job Description
Position: Accounting Supervisor
Organization: O-Trade & Logistics
Job Description:
The Accounting Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the accounting department ensuring accurate financial reporting compliance with regulations and efficient processes. This role involves managing month-end close and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS tax regulations and company policies.
- Coordinate audits (internal/external) and liaise with auditors.
- Work with departments (e.g. HR Operations) to align financial strategies.
- Month-End & Year-End Close:
- Lead the month-end closing process including reconciliations (bank GL etc.).
- Review journal entries accruals and adjustments for accuracy.
- Assist in annual budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies and implement best practices in accounting processes.
- Ensure robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Payroll & Treasury Oversight:
- Supervise payroll processing and ensure timely tax filings.
- Monitor cash flow accounts payable/receivable and vendor payments.
- Supervision & Leadership:
- Manage and mentor Kenya accounting staff.
- Assign tasks review work and ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).
- 5 years in accounting/finance with 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. QuickBooks SAP Oracle) advanced Excel and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership analytical thinking and communication.
- CPA CMA or MBA (a plus).
- Excellent English is a must.
