Job Description

Interior Community Services (ICS) is seeking a compassionate and resourceful Affordable Housing Coordinator to support older adults in finding and maintaining safe stable and affordable housing. This role focuses on building trust and walking alongside seniors as they navigate housing systems advocate for their needs and access vital community and health supports.

Youll engage with landlords housing providers and local service agencies to reduce barriers and promote housing stability for seniors. If youre relationship-driven thrive in a community-centered role and care deeply about the well-being of older adults wed love to hear from you.

What Youll Do

This role blends direct client support with systems navigation and relationship-building across the housing and service sectors. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support seniors experiencing housing instability or transitions
  • Assist with housing applications relocation support subsidies and referrals
  • Build relationships with landlords and senior-serving organizations
  • Provide one-to-one guidance and problem-solving support to clients
  • Advocate for seniors and help resolve landlord-tenant issues
  • Track outcomes and maintain accurate case notes and statistics
  • Raise awareness of housing services through outreach and community engagement

What You Bring

  • A degree (preferred) or diploma in social work human services or a related field
  • 1 year of experience working with older adults facing housing instability
  • Knowledge of seniors housing systems income supports and tenancy rights
  • Strong communication advocacy and interpersonal skills
  • Patience empathy and flexibility in supporting seniors who may face barriers such as cognitive or physical limitations memory loss or challenges with technology etc.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Technological aptitude and willingness to learn new systems troubleshoot and adapt quickly to changing tools or platforms
  • Trauma-informed and culturally respectful approach to service
  • Comfort navigating complex systems and maintaining strong community partnerships

Other Musts

  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License and safe driving record
  • Reliable vehicle with $5M Business Use insurance (reimbursement available)
  • Frequent travel within Kamloops and occasional travel to surrounding communities
  • Willingness to complete or renew certifications such as: CPR-C Mandt SafeTalk Naloxone Privacy and Information Sharing Anti-Bullying and Harassment
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • This is a unionized position with a 1.85% union dues deduction

Program: Housing and Facilities

Location: Kamloops BC
Status: Temporary Part-Time

Term: July 1 2025 March 31 2026
Hours of Work: 24 hours per week
Schedule: This position follows a schedule within regular office hours (Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM). The successful candidate will work one of the following two options:

  • Monday to Wednesday 8 hours per day
  • Monday to Friday 4 to 5 hours per day (e.g. 9:00 AM 1:30 or 2:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch)

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the clients we serve.

Compensation: $25.95 - $29.76 per hour (Grid 10 as per collective agreement)
