Company Background: A leading manufacturer of prefabricated modular data center solutions specialize in the data center and power systems industry. With R&D facilities in Shanghai and high-end manufacturing plants in Shanghai and Malaysia it delivers innovative solutions for hyperscale data center projects globally. The company is located in Johor Bahru and the actual working location is subject to the project.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Container Structure Design and Optimization
Responsible for the mechanical structure design of data center power distribution containers (medium and low voltage) and diesel generator containers including frame structure equipment layout lifting and securing seismic and wind resistance design.
Utilize modular container standards (ISO 668) to ensure the container meets
requirements for transportation lifting and rapid deployment.
Optimize structural strength and validate seismic (Level 8) wind resistance (Typhoon Level 14) and waterproof (IP55) performance through Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
2. Cooling and Noise Reduction Design
Design efficient cooling systems calculate air intake/exhaust volume (CFM) under full-load diesel generator operation and optimize airflow layout to prevent heat recirculation.
Use silencers sound insulation materials and vibration-damping mounts to ensure exterior noise 85dB(A) at 1 meter from the container.
Design corrosion-resistant and dust-proof structures for high-temperature/high-humidity environments (e.g. desert coastal areas).
3. Equipment Installation and Maintenance Accessibility
Plan rational layouts for power distribution cabinets diesel generators fuel tanks and cooling systems ensuring maintenance access paths (600mm) and service space.
Design quick-release panels and sliding equipment bases to facilitate maintenance and component replacement.
4. Material Selection and Manufacturing Process
Select lightweight high-strength steel to balance structural strength and transportation cost.
Develop anti-corrosion treatment processes (familiar with galvanizing coating painting etc.) to ensure container lifespan 15 years in harsh environments.
5. BIM Collaboration and Production Support
Use SolidWorks/Revit for 3D modeling and generate fabrication drawings (sheet metal bending welding processes).
Collaborate with electrical and HVAC teams to avoid pipeline interference and ensure integrated design consistency.
6. Scope of Work:
Design Tasks: Analyze customer needs or design institute drawings perform detailed design and deliver product drawings that meet functional and production requirements while considering cost reduction and efficiency.
Supplier Development: Conduct technical evaluations for new suppliers to ensure their capability aligns with design requirements.
Supply Chain Quality and Production Support: Perform DFX analysis on drawings and BOM to ensure compliance with procurement quality monitoring and cost-effective manufacturing needs.
Production Documentation: Prepare and deliver SOPs MBOMs DFMEA/PFMEA and other production support documents.
Process Improvement: Review and improve current production processes and implement technical upgrade plans.
Project Management: Manage assigned projects control project scope quality and cost and proactively mitigate risks to prevent project failure.
Other Tasks: Support and complete other tasks assigned by leadership proactively and efficiently.
Job Requirements:
1. Hard Skills
Education: Bachelors degree or above in Mechanical Engineering Structural Design Power Engineering or related fields.
Language Proficiency: Proficient in both written and spoken Mandarin essential for communication with Chinese institutions.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in sheet metal design; familiar with welding bending stamping cutting and shaping processes.
Skilled in SolidWorks/ANSYS/COMSOL for structural simulation and thermal analysis.
Familiar with container/modular enclosure industry standards (ISO 668 EN 12079).
Industry Experience:
3 years of mechanical design experience in power containers or modular data center equipment.
Experience designing diesel generator containers or high-power distribution cabinets is preferred.
