About the Iniskim Centre

The Iniskim Centre offers programs and services to increase the engagement and success of Indigenous students while also raising awareness of Indigenous peoples and cultures. We recognize and respect the diversity of all Indigenous Peoples of Canada. We also increase awareness of distinct Indigenous cultures history and protocols across the University.

With any program you choose the Iniskim Centre helps you prepare to succeed in your academic pursuits and future career. Our dedicated staff encourages you throughout your program of study providing resources such as academic and cultural support academic advising writing support and scholarship information.

About the Role

The Iniskim Centre is seeking a non-credit instructor for the Fall 2025 semester which runs from September 4 to December 22 2025. This instructor position is available for the Fall and Winter semesters.

The Indigenous University Bridging Program has been offered at Mount Royal University since 1993 to assist Indigenous learners who are transitioning from high school to post secondary studies. This involves offering a number of courses including Native Studies 0130 - Contemporary Aboriginal Issues. This course is offered at MRU as the equivalent of Aboriginal Studies 30 in the Alberta provincial curriculum. Indigenous and non-Indigenous students register into the course to learn about Indigenous cultures and to obtain a prerequisite for admission into Child Studies Communication and Social Work.

We are seeking instructors with the ability to teach the following course(s):

Native Studies 0130 - Contemporary Aboriginal Issues

(0 credits) This course will provide an overview of Aboriginal world views and belief systems. Students will gain an awareness of similarities and differences among First Nations in the area of social organizations spiritual beliefs and cultural practices.
