JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:

Behavior Specialist Arlington Community Education (ACE) SummerFun

Job Description:

This is a temporary 5-week position July 14-August 15 working closely with the ACE Director and SummerFun staff to fulfill ACEs mission of providing inclusive summer enrichment programs

ACE runs SummerFun a six-week program at Arlington High School between July 7 and August 15 with nearly 350 students each day. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to provide student support and training for staff and teen counselors.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic flexible self-motivated individual. The candidate should also possess:

  • Bachelors or higher degree in social work special education or a related field.
  • Certification or licensure in behavior analysis (e.g. BCBA) preferred.
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and other evidence-based strategies.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience working with students with behavioral or emotional challenges.

Responsibilities:
Behavior Specialists responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Help develop and execute the ACE behavior protocol for the SF program.
  • Work with teachers and other staff to support and implement behavior policies in a classroom setting.
  • This role may involve observation and the application of evidence-based strategies to promote positive behavioral outcomes.
  • Respond to and de-escalate challenging behavior situations.
  • Work with students who exhibit challenging behaviors helping them develop new skills improved social interactions and providing behavior support.
  • Communicating with teachers staff and parents.
  • Teacher staff and teen counselor training and support.

Reports to: Director of Community Education


Hours: 35 hours/week starting July 14.

Compensation: Commensurate with Education and Experience.
