Jefferson Parish Schools Job Description Addendum
To ensure clarity and mutual understanding of your role within our organization we are providing the following clarifications to your current job description. This addendum is intended to more fully describe your existing responsibilities and expectations ensuring alignment with our operational goals. As exempt employees teachers may be required to work outside of the instructional day to fulfill job duties.
Teacher Job Description Addendum:
In addition to the job duties and responsibilities contained in your current job description teachers shall be expected to perform the following duties as required under the circumstances along with the completion of all corresponding documents forms and reports:
Instructional Components
- Fulfill duties traditionally expected of those in the teaching profession
- Lesson Plans
- Instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues and departments
- Grade papers tests other student work and provide timely academic feedback to students.
- Take and record attendance
- Maintain grade books; record student grades participation etc.
- Maintain positive and timely interaction with parents/guardians relative to the performance or conduct of students assigned to the teacher as well as other school related obligations - Utilizes organizes and monitors data in order to ensure student achievement.
- Organize monitor and evaluate data in order to make informed decisions for student growth and development.
- Provide instructional class coverage during teacher absences and/or vacancies subject to the School Board policy on additional compensation for teachers as subs.
Supervision
- Supervision of students when students are on or off campus at a school related or sponsored event
- Supervision of students prior to school and/or drop-off
- Supervision of students in the classroom and in the school
- Supervision of students between classes during recess or other breaks during lunch or assemblies
- Supervision of students after school and/or pick-up
Non-instructional and Other Components
- Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of students
- Attend faculty staff committee and department meetings
- Attend professional development or training sessions
- Attend IEP MDR and A/BIT meetings
- Attend/contact parents for parent-teacher conferences or other parent events
- Attend back-to-school open house and other events
- Attend graduation ceremony and other graduation activities including but not limited to graduation practices
- Attend PGP PIP Evaluation Observation IAP and student discipline meetings or hearings
- Attend school board committee regular board meetings or special board meetings upon request
- Monitor electronic communication and respond to parents administration and other stakeholders in a timely manner as appropriate
- If the teacher is bilingual (fluent in both English and another language) interpretation and translations may be assigned upon request of the school administrators
Extracurricular Activities
- Attend or work at athletic or other school events during the year
- Attend all events meetings and functions of those classes activities clubs or groups of which the employee is a teacher or a sponsor.
