Description of Work

Salary Grade: NC09

The North Carolina Department of Revenue is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Data Analyst of the Submissions Processing Division Continual Service Improvement Group and on a team of Continual Service Improvement (CSI) agents.

The Data Analyst will interpret data analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports develop and implement databases data collection systems and data analytics. This position will lead the effort and work with staff to follow established procedures and complete time studies on job functions of thisposition will be to coordinate with a team of inspectors from different teams in SPD to conduct quarterly desk inspections for quality assurance work closely with the Supervisor to ensure production and Yellow Belt training and project needs are met in every group.

The Data Analyst will make recommendations for process improvements based on statistics and train managers to recognize the process improvements as well as compile organize analyze and report statistics for each group and the Division on a regular basis.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products especially Excel

  • Able to express ideas and concepts logically clearly and concisely in written and oral form

  • Understanding of Visual Basic Applications (VBA) and programming techniques

  • Knowledge of all principles behind the administration and structuring of an integrated database system

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect organize analyses and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Adept at queries report writing and presenting findings

  • Logical thinking as this person needs to look at what data needs to be recorded and determine how to store it in such a way that it will be easily used in the future

Management Preferences:

  • Intermediate or advanced level of experience in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access Database is a plus

  • Prior experience with presenting data in a dashboard or in a presentation preferred

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
