JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Director of Elementary Schools
Responsible To: Assistant Superintendent / Chief Academic Officer
Basic Function: To assist the assistant superintendent / chief academic officer and professional staff in translating elementary and instructional goals / objectives into meaningful learning experiences for each individual student in the elementary school classrooms.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to develop promote and ensure understanding of the elementary educational objectives of the school system.
- Supports principal and teacher committees in organizing and coordinating grade level and departmental meetings in an effort to impact the purposeful direction continuity and articulation of the elementary instructional program.
- Make presentations to the Board parent groups community organizations and other interested stakeholder groups to communicate and interpret the elementary instructional program of the school district as needed.
- Assists individual elementary school staff in planning implementing monitoring and evaluating the curriculum and instruction.
- Keeps abreast of and interprets current research in the areas of elementary curriculum development and instruction.
- Participates in professional learning activities related to curriculum instruction assessment and leadership.
- Keeps informed of and interprets all statutes regulations rules and policies affecting elementary schools.
- Oversees planning coordinating and support of elementary core reading and math programs.
- Oversees the implementation of state flex focus programs and assigned federal programs including budget oversight and expenditures.
- Assists in the facilitation and design of the Teacher Leader Network for elementary teachers.
- Supervises and evaluates the elementary Curriculum Resource Administrators.
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned by Assistant Superintendent / Chief Academic Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification as a school principal or Supervisor of Instruction
- A minimum of three years as a successful elementary principal preferred
Terms of Employment:
Contract is negotiable on an annual basis
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for Professional Personnel.
