SUMMARY: The Omaha Tribal Gaming Commission as the tribal gaming regulatory agency is responsible for regulating and monitoring all gaming activities occurring within the exterior boundaries of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska and Iowa. The Commission through its Commissioners conducts oversight to ensure compliance with federal tribal and state laws and regulations. The Commission is the licensing authority for individuals vendors and facilities in the gaming operation and is the signatory authority for said licenses. The Commission has a role in monitoring compliance with the internal control standards for the gaming operation and in tracking revenues. The Commission has the duty for ensuring that all inspections and monitoring activities on a regulatory basis only are done on a continuous basis for all aspects of the gaming operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- The Secretary of the Omaha Tribal Gaming Commission is the principal records custodial officer of the Commission. The position of the Tribal Gaming Commissioner Secretary will be required to perform or be involved in the following representative activities.
- Present at all Commission meetings
- Maintain accurate and sufficient documentation to meet legal requirements.
- Maintain meeting minutes and other official records.
- Maintain Minimum Internal Control Standards for the gaming operation(s) and any amendments thereto
- Review license applications background investigations reports financial documents and other relevant material and recommendations presented by Licensing Agent or staff and render a determination on the applicants suitability for licensure and other matters such as suspension revocation and renewal of employee vendor and other licenses
- Reviews requests for approval of gaming equipment and other matters as requested by gaming management
- Reviews and approves rules of various games
- Ensures that the tribal gaming facility is constructed maintained and operated in a manner that protects the environment public health and safety
- Periodically reviews and updates Commission regulations
- Meets with and provides guidance to other Commissioners as necessary on regulatory licensing and other Commission related matters
- Provides reports and/or makes presentations to the Chairman and/or Tribal Council as required and requested
- Participates in final stage of patron dispute resolution process
- Meets with representatives from National Indian Gaming Commission and the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission as needed
- All other activities as mandated by federal tribal and state gaming laws and regulations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred Bachelors Degree comparable work experience or a combination of both.
- Education and experience may be used interchangeable to meet the minimum qualifications.
- Preferred experience in Business Management Law Enforcement Criminal Investigation Accounting and/or Auditing.
- Knowledge in Casino operations required.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Must be Tribal Citizen.
- Prior experience with a regulatory agency preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in area of Indian Gaming preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment and periodic random drug screens.
- Must be able to pass background suitability investigation.
- Experience in policy development and administrative management is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work with administration management and regulatory agencies departments and staff.
- Able to uphold a high level of confidentiality.
- Able to deal well with people in delicate situations and maintain control.
- Integrity and high work ethic required.
- Able to handle multiple tasks.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to give direction as well as receive.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- The Casino is open 24 hours per day seven (7) days per week; therefore you must be flexible to work any and all shifts.
- The Casino is a gaming facility.
- The Casino is not a smoke-free environment.
