Job Description

The Good Spirit School Division Invites applications for a Permanent Full-Time Well-Being Consultant

GSSD is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Consultant to join our team. This role involves supporting staff and students by promoting healthy sustainable physical and social environments providing professional development supporting staff and students through pre-trauma and post trauma functioning providing guidance and leadership to the counsellor team and incorporating research-based well-being practices into schools.

Permanent - 7.5 hours/day

In accordance with STF Provincial Collective Agreement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pre-trauma functioning of staff systems
  • Support schools throughout traumatic events
  • Promote healthy sustainable physical and social environment work from a systems lens
  • Facilitate mental health and well-being professional development (Ex. VTRA Levels 1 MH Literacy MHFA)
  • Assist in developing and enacting the items within the GSSD strategic plan
  • Oversee practicum students nutrition programming and the school counsellor professional learning community
  • Work closely with Student Services Consultants to align Student Services practices and procedures across the school division
  • Stay current on the latest research and evidence-based practices in mental health and trauma-integrated approaches and deliver professional development for educators on mental health and trauma-integrated topics.
  • Oversee school counselor-led programming in schools (FRIENDS Project Alert)
  • Use school-based and system-level data (e.g. attendance behaviour academic and well-being indicators) to inform mental health programming identify trends and support evidence-based decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work or Psychology
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a School Counsellor
  • Strong passion for fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
