The Region of Peel is seeking a forward-thinking Project Manager to lead innovative GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology projects that make a tangible impact. This is an exciting opportunity to take on meaningful work that supports the regions enterprise-wide GIS initiatives helping to deliver smarter infrastructure and more connected communities.
As the Project Manager GIS Technology youll play a key role in managing the planning and execution of GIS projects across the organization. Youll collaborate with business stakeholders GIS advisors vendors and internal IT teams to bring impactful solutions to lifeon time on budget and with purpose.
Lead and deliver GIS technology projects across departments from planning through implementation.
Manage project budgets timelines quality benchmarks and stakeholder expectations.
Work closely with internal and external partners ensuring alignment with business goals and regional strategy.
Develop project documentation including charters business cases and change management plans.
Coordinate project teams and ensure deliverables meet expectations.
Regularly report project status and progress to senior leadership and steering committees.
Identify risks resolve issues and continuously look for opportunities to improve how projects are delivered.
Support a smooth operational handover for all completed projects.
A degree or diploma in Computer Science GIS or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience managing IT projects including some experience with GIS implementations.
Knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies (e.g. Agile Waterfall SDLC).
Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to manage priorities lead cross-functional teams and navigate complex project environments.
Analytical thinking and a results-driven approach to solving challenges and delivering value.
Experience working with ESRI GIS technologies such as ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online.
Familiarity with cloud-based GIS deployments (Microsoft Azure AWS).
Project Management certification (e.g. PMP PRINCE2).
Post-graduate diploma or certification in GIS.
Understanding of system architecture service-oriented architecture and how GIS fits into enterprise environments.

In this role youll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
Its important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that were compliant with all regulations and policies.
