HAIDA LANGUAGE AND CULTURE TEACHER
Daa x iigan S k ada Ne K-12 School
An employment opportunities exist for CONTINUING Part-Time (0.771 FTE) Haida Language and Culture Teachers effective September 1 2025 at Daaxiigan Skadaa Ne K-12 School.
Requirements:
- A university teaching major or its equivalent directly related to the teaching position;
- Understanding and being committed to the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation commission including the eradication of existing and persistent equity gaps for specific groups of children;
- Working knowledge of and experience in Haida language and culture as approved by the Old Masset Village Council Language Authority.
- Ability to design curriculum and instruction and assessment or personalization of student
- Successful teaching experience in the position or in a similar position;
- High level of skills related to successful classroom management and to the development and maintenance of a positive classroom climate;
- Demonstrated ability to plan organize instruct and evaluate learning activities for students strengths and for their academic social emotional and behavioural needs;
- Proven interpersonal skills work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students teachers education assistants parents and administrators;
- The ability to work in a team situation daily in the classroom;
- Experience with multi-grade classes an asset;
- Understanding of local resources and environment;
- Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) certification.
Remote and Rural Allowance: $2340 per annum
Travel Allowance: $876 per annum
