LPN or CNA Accepted CNAs must hold a State of Maine Med Tech certification AND a CNA certification CNAs will recieve a $50/hr All Inclusive Bill Rate. Local Candidates will receive a lower local rate. Position Summary: The Certified Medical Technician (CMT) is a C.N.A/M or LPN who is responsiblefor the medication administration of the assigned nursing unit (long term careor skilled care) as well as performing all the essential job functions of aCertified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A). Although the C.N.A/M is responsiblefor the accurate administration of medications these responsibilities may bedelegated in whole or in part to other members of the staff as directed by thenursing administration. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursingand follows standard nursing procedures and facility policies for administeringmedication. Able to administer medication by oral rectal topical inhalation eye or ear routes under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse by following standard nursing procedures and facility policies for administering medication including but not limited to the following: o Maintains medication cart and ensures storage area is clean neat and areas are locked if appropriate o Obtains permission from licensed nurse before administering PRN medication o Performs the count of non-narcotic countable medications with medication technician or licensed nurse at beginning and end of shift. o Administers no Schedule II drugs or any sliding scale drugs o Checks supply of medications for each resident on unit and coordinates with nursing staff for any reorder medication needs o Takes vital signs following correct procedure including apical pulse rates Reports any significant changes in resident condition or vital signs to Charge Nurse or Supervisor promptly. Documents medication administered on MAR per facility policy and procedures. Must be comfortable working with frequent interruptions. Ability to work with emotionally upset residents/patients and family members. Can communicate effectively with medical staff nursing personnel and other department supervisors. Has a passion for working with long term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients to provide excellent resident and patient care. Ability to work independently have flexibility personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents/patients personnel and support agencies.
