Manager - Mechanical Design

1. Mechanical Design Leadership:

• Lead and manage the mechanical design team responsible for the design development and optimization of transformer components and systems.
• Oversee the design of transformer mechanical structures enclosures bushings radiators tap changers and other mechanical parts to ensure robustness reliability and compliance with industry standards.
• Develop innovative design solutions that enhance transformer performance reduce costs and improve manufacturability.

1. Design Process Management:

• Establish and implement design processes procedures and guidelines to ensure consistent quality and adherence to engineering standards.
• Review design concepts calculations and technical drawings to ensure they meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
• Use advanced design tools (e.g. AutoCAD SolidWorks or other CAD software) for drafting and modeling transformer components.

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with electrical engineers production and quality control teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical and operational requirements.
• Coordinate with the testing and R&D teams to validate design assumptions and performance under real-world conditions.
• Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure that materials components and vendors meet design specifications.

1. Design Optimization and Innovation:

• Evaluate existing mechanical designs for improvements in efficiency performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Incorporate the latest technological advancements in materials design methodologies and production techniques into transformer mechanical design.
• Perform stress analysis thermal analysis and other mechanical simulations to ensure optimal transformer performance and durability.

1. Project Management:

• Oversee mechanical design projects from concept to completion ensuring they are delivered on time within budget and to the highest quality standards.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining clear priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Prepare project timelines resource allocation plans and cost estimates.

1. Technical Documentation and Reporting:

• Ensure proper documentation of design processes calculations and design reviews.
• Prepare and maintain design specifications technical reports and manuals.
• Present design concepts and solutions to senior management and clients providing clear explanations of the technical aspects.

1. Team Management and Development:

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Provide guidance on best practices design techniques and industry standards.
• Conduct performance reviews identify skill gaps and implement training programs for the design team.

1. Quality and Compliance:

• Ensure all mechanical designs comply with international industry standards (e.g. IEC ANSI IEEE) and safety regulations.
• Conduct design reviews and audits to identify potential risks and non-conformities and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Work with the quality assurance team to ensure designs meet required tolerances and specifications.

• Education: Bachelor s or Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in mechanical design with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role preferably within the transformer or electrical equipment industry.
• Skills:
• Expertise in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD SolidWorks CATIA or similar CAD tools.
