Job Description

We are currently looking for a Group Maintenance Engineer to join our technical team at Smit Lamnalco. As Group Maintenance Engineer you will execute the maintenance strategy on board vessels to maintain operational reliability and compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.

Accountability and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with class flag state OEM and internal maintenance requirements.
  • Develop optimize and maintain the maintenance strategy for the vessels in the VMS.
  • Provide technical support to shore staff and vessel crew regarding maintenance procedures and the use of the VMS.
  • Review maintenance data and performance trends to improve asset reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for technical support upgrades and service planning.
  • Perform vessel inspections (VIC) to assess and verify maintenance execution and system condition.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely updates of maintenance records in relevant systems.
  • Manage other systems for the Group Fleet department as applicable.
  • Assist the department manager with various projects to further develop the Group Fleet Department.

 


Qualifications :

Requirements for the position

Educational background:             

  • Bachelors degree in Marine Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Work experience:                          

  • In-depth knowledge of vessel systems and maritime regulations (ISM Class Flag).
  • Proficient with planned maintenance systems (preferably MARAD or similar).
  • Able to read and interpret technical documentation schematics and manuals.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in the maritime sector

The successful candidate must be living in the Netherlands and being able to work in the Netherlands (being a local or in possession of a work permit). The language in our office is English.
