About the role

  • Full-time contract from 30/06/2025 to 30/06/2026
  • In-office (Brisbane City QLD)
  • Remuneration: SCHADS 5 ($49.77 $52.03 p/hr.) super. Salary packaging available.
  • The Mens Accountability Practitioner will engage with individuals via inbound and outreach calls supporting those who have expressed a willingness to change their use of violence and abuse. Through therapeutic engagement the practitioner will assist individuals in developing language and self-awareness around their behaviour fostering accountability and promoting behaviour change. This will be achieved through motivational interviewing counselling case management and risk assessment strategies. The role requires the practitioner to conduct comprehensive assessments implement appropriate responses to ensure the safety of the individual and their partners and children and maintain high-quality client records and reporting standards.

    Requirements

    • Completed tertiary qualification in Psychology Social Work or similar qualifications.
    • At least 2 years experience in the provision of professional counselling advocacy and related crisis work for men preferably in the area of domestic violence.
    • Ability to assess indicators of whether a caller is a person who uses violence or someone subjected to violence in their personal relationship and to respond appropriately to this assessment
    • Knowledge in the area of gender-based violence specifically with those that use domestic and family violence.
    • Demonstrated ability to build maintain and enhance relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including both government and non-government organisations.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act 2012 Domestic Violence Orders and Child Protection Act 1999 (desirable).
    • Demonstrate good cultural responsiveness and commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. a
    • Highly competent IT and telephone skills.
    • Positive Notice Blue Card and National Police Check or willingness to obtain before commencing employment.
    • Committed to attending DVCs office located in Brisbane for all shifts (No WFH).
    • Valid photo ID.
    • Right to work in Australia.
