Position Summary

The Criminal Division of the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorneys Office is looking for highly motivated attorneys to join our office as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys (DPA).

The Pierce County Prosecuting Attorneys Office is located in downtown Tacoma Washington in the County-City Building and employs 255 staff which includes 140 deputy prosecutors.

You will represent the State of Washington as a deputy prosecuting attorney in the prosecution of misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenses at the District Court level. You will manage a high-volume caseload comprised of challenging meaningful legal work and a chance to grow professionally as part of an organization where equity diversity and inclusion are valued and celebrated as part of our commitment to justice. How to be Successful in this Role:
We are looking for an attorney who feels comfortable in the courtroom and advocating on behalf of a client. You will perform duties with professional discretion and within office guidelines professional ethics and standards and legal requirements. The ability to handle high volume caseload work under pressure with tight timelines is essential and the ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues in a collaborative work environment.

Throughout the onboarding process you will meet with the Supervisors teams and the admin team regularly to discuss expectations set goals identify priorities and gain familiarity with current policies procedures and strategic measures. Qualifications


Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience working as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with oral and written advocacy skills.
  • Experience in charging negotiating sentencing and trial work.

Special Requirements:
  • As a condition of employment the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check. Information received from the background check is reviewed case-by-case basis and will not necessarily remove an applicant from consideration.
