The University of Chicagos Department of Medicine Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine is searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor on the School of Medicine track to serve as Director of Supportive Oncology. The appointee will be responsible for the development expansion management and alignment of services reflected in a patients cancer journey as we further broaden our cancer service line including additional network locations and the new cancer center building in Hyde Park. The appointee will further develop integrative medicine capabilities to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive cancer care. These include coordination with social services therapy services nutrition medical oncology radiation oncology integrative medicine lifestyle medicine surgical oncology psychiatry psychology case management palliative and hospice care survivorship and community-based support services. This position will also support the addition of ambulatory and inpatient capacity in the Section of Palliative Medicine which intends to grow as oncology broadens its footprint across the health system. The appointee will provide inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine consultation. Other duties include leading quality improvement initiatives and contributing to scholarship as well as participating in the education of trainees. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.
