Selkirk Elementary School is located within the traditional territory of the people of Kwanlin Dn First Nation and the Taan Kwchn Council. Selkirk Elementary School is a dual track English/French elementary school Grades K - 7 with a student population of approximately 380. Key to Selkirk Elementary Schools philosophy is the incorporation of social emotional learning developmentally responsive practice and structured literacy and numeracy programming

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization in elementary education;
- A minimum of one year of recent teaching experience in an intermediate (Grades 4-7) French Immersion classroom;
- Post-secondary training in teaching French Immersion and/or second language acquisition is considered an asset;
- Experience implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in an intermediate French Immersion classroom;
- Fluency in both French and English with strong oral and written communication skills.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Knowledge of effective instructional practices in literacy and numeracy including the ability to apply assessment for as and of student learning
- Effective classroom management planning and organization skills;
- Strong understanding and experience of the Neurolinguistic Approach in French or a willingness to learn;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with students parents administration other staff members and consultants;
- Ability to work as a member of a professional team and willingness to participate in the total school program;
- Ability to provide positive intervention in a developmentally responsive way including the promotion of student self-regulation and restorative approach;
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations people and a culturally diverse student population.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
