About The Role

- Office based in Chatswood with occasional travel between Link Wentworth offices in metro Sydney
The In-House Lawyer is responsible for providing support to the CFO & Company Secretary in relation to all legal and governance related matters. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day legal operations and providing legal advice as required. This role involves handling routine legal matters managing legislative compliance issues drafting and reviewing contracts providing legal support on projects and assisting with corporate governance tasks.
The role reports directly to the CFO & Company Secretary and has no direct reports.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Deliver timely and practical legal guidance and legal advice to support business decision-making ensure compliance and reduce legal risk across the organisation.
- Draft review and negotiate a range of contracts and legal documents and procure and manage external legal advice when needed
- Manage litigation and other dispute matters engaging and liaising with external legal providers where required.
- Advise on governance frameworks policies and procedures ensuring alignment with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Drive projects involving legal governance policy or regulatory change and maintain key legal registers including contractual obligations.
- Work with the CFO & Company Secretary to support the Board and Committees on legal and corporate matters assist with regulatory matters and liaise with government bodies.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor of Law (Essential)
- Minimum: Law Society of NSW corporate practising certificate (or alternatively principal practising certificate)
- Experience in provision of legal advice in corporate environments or legal firm
- Experience and training in contract law
- Experience and training in professional writing and plain English writing
- Experience in supporting corporate compliance functions (e.g. ASIC State government agencies)

You will also need:
- A valid National Police Check (less than six (6) months old) to the satisfaction of Link Wentworth to be renewed every two (2) years or earlier as reasonably required by Link Wentworth
- Willingness to comply with vaccination requirements imposed by Link Wentworth including COVID-19 and other vaccinations as determined by the organisation in accordance with current Government health advice mandates or directions
