About KOTH:
King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion KOTH now features a 4.7 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Job Description:
As the Underground Production Engineer you will support the Senior Mining Engineer in overseeing daily production activities and contractor performance to ensure weekly schedule targets are met. Youll be responsible for delivering safe cost-effective designs that maintain continuous ore flow and efficient underground operations.
When required you will also act as the sites statutory Ventilation Officer in accordance with Schedule 26 Clause 11 of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
This role will be offered on a FIFO or DIDO 14/14 Roster based at our King of the Hills Operation.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of Vault Minerals.
- Be able to understand and carry out instructions from more experienced/Senior Engineers.
- Show capability to learn new skills.
- Be able to work in physically & mentally potentially demanding environments including Underground.
- Be able to liaise & communicate effectively and courteously with other Technical Services Departments & Contractors.
- Ensure all allocated tasks are completed safely and on schedule.
- Expand and develop necessary Underground technical knowledge.
- Supervise and audit underground production and ventilation activities to ensure safety and production objectives are met.
- Work to review and provide feedback on standard processes for production and ventilation functions to ensure the mine is operating safely efficiently and consistently across crews.
- Ensure accurate production reconciliations are completed summary reports prepared and any production improvements are promptly evaluated and applicable changes implemented.
- Effectively manage change through documented change management processes.
- Regularly challenge review and optimise mine production and ventilation systems in consultation with the Senior Production Engineer.
- Ensure all requirements acting as the Underground Ventilation Officer are dutifully undertaken.
- Assist with end of month data collection and reconciliation processes.
- Monitor mining contractor performance in line with the contract mine plan and approved practices and procedures to ensure safe and cost-effective operation.
About You:
Youre a capable and hands-on mining professional with experience in narrow vein underground gold mining. You understand underground mining operations including ventilation systems ground conditions and production processes. Your practical site exposure familiarity with mining software and strong problem-solving approach enable you to contribute effectively to daily production performance.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Completion of required underground time
- Manual Drivers Licence
- Full Australian work rights
- Proficient in relevant mining software (e.g. Deswik CAD)
- Knowledge of statutory mine ventilation requirements (primary and secondary systems)
