- Working Hours: 7:30-4:00 Monday to Friday
- Student Age Group: 5th-8th Grade students
- Case Load: 20-25 students
Responsibilities: - Provide an organized and learning-conducive environment to ensure that students are encouraged to be productive focused and engaged in learning.
- Maintain detailed records that include assessment results progress school performance and feedback; provide ongoing communication and feedback on the students progress to all appropriate parties.
- Maintain confidentiality of all records and conversations regarding students academic accomplishments and struggles.
- Design and deliver individual lesson plans in one or more academic subjects using a variety of teaching techniques and appealing to various learning styles.
- Create and comply with IEP and 504 accommodations.
- Discuss academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise and escalate as necessary to the appropriate individuals.
- Communicate progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and as appropriate other faculty staff and/or the principal.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents staff and students.
- Maintain required paperwork for individual student files attendance and incident reports and other necessary records.
- Participate in faculty meetings educational conferences in-service opportunities workshops and other training seminars.
- Maintain knowledge of research developments and best practices in secondary education including but not limited to project-based learning and student-led learning environments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree (education degree preferred).
- Meet the certification/licenses needed to be a special education teacher.
- High level of oral and written communication skills.
