A nonprofit organization working with Colorado families seeks an experienced Director of Development to grow our fundraising program!
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Director of Development plays a key role in overseeing our ongoing expansion while continuing efforts to grow our fundraising program. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in grants management experience with targeted giving campaigns and board engagement and enthusiasm for telling the story of our successes with partner sites and families all across Colorado.
WHAT WE DO
Parents who want a better life for their child can become a positive force in their childs success. Until all parents regardless of economic circumstances are empowered to be their childs first and most influential teacher Parent Possibles work is not done.
We lead three international parent support programs called Parents as Teachers (PAT) Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) and Vroom. Our programs support Colorado parents with their childrens positive development prenatal through kindergarten.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
We are seeking an experienced Direct of Development who will primarily focus on leading Parent Possibles grant writing fundraising and donor relations strategy to ensure we have the financial resources we need to achieve our mission.
FUNDRAISING
- Create implement and execute an annual fundraising plan that meets our fundraising goals including foundation and government agency grant writing and reporting securing board and donor support successful delivery of an annual campaign and event planning and sponsorships for annual conference/fundraising event.
- Identify new funding opportunities based on program expansion and ongoing organizational needs.
- Produce materials for submission including drafting LOIs and application materials.
GRANTS MANAGEMENT
- Direct and write the grant submissions and reporting process including proactively tracking deadlines.
- Work with the program teams to make sure program updates required reporting materials and evaluation insights are communicated to funders in a timely fashion.
FUNDER AND DONOR RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
- Cultivate relationships with existing funders and potential donors and develop a robust understanding of funding in the early childhood space.
- Develop and grow relationships with corporate sponsors both local and national.
- Grow and develop sponsorship opportunities to support Parent Possibles annual conference.
LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION
- Assist the Executive Director and Director of Finance in developing the annual budget and revenue projections.
- In partnership with the Executive Director facilitate the Board of Directors Fundraising Committee including preparing agendas and meeting materials leading the committee meetings and following up on next steps.
- Lead the fundraising strategy and event planning to support our conference team in using our conference as a fundraising platform.
- Support the Executive Director with the creation of a Young Professionals Board and an Advisory Board with the goal of supporting our fundraising efforts.
- Measure and analyze the results of fundraising initiatives to ensure fundraising goals are accomplished and campaigns are optimized on an ongoing basis; provide regular reports to the Leadership Team and Board.
- Lead and support Board fundraising efforts including participation in Colorado Gives Day and corporate donor efforts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years experience with fundraising donor development marketing and/or grant writing.
- Experience working with governing boards and committees as development partners.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including experience translating program successes for a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated success in growing funding portfolios.
- Experience with a range of funding types including foundation funds corporate sponsorship and direct solicitation.
- Ability to work independently and with a high degree of autonomy and a willingness to be proactive in suggesting new directions or perspectives.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and to assess and change priorities based upon organizational needs.
- Strategic thinker who communicates professionally and effectively with diverse staff volunteers donors prospects and community stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10-15 years of experience with fundraising donor development marketing and/or grant writing.
- Experience in early childhood or familiarity with the needs of early childhood organizations.
- Experience with government agency grant writing and management.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM for managing grant applications.
WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING
- This is a full-time salaried exempt position reporting to the Executive Director. Expected starting salary ranges from $75000 - $85000.
- Parent Possible maintains an excellent benefits package including employer-paid health insurance dental insurance life insurance CO FAMLI and long-term disability coverage and IRA with 3% employer match from date of hire. Parent Possible also offers paid time off (3 to 5 weeks) paid sick leave paid parental leave and a paid holiday office closure from December 24th to January 1st. - This is a hybrid position. Some work is required (2 to 3 days a week) in our downtown Denver office and the rest can be done remotely in Colorado.
