The Technical Purchasing Specialist Role is responsible for managing supplier relationships procuring engineering materials and components and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and industry standards. This role involves collaborating closely with internal stakeholders negotiate contracts and optimize purchasing processes to support project timelines and objectives. The Purchasing Engineer also provides technical expertise and leadership to the purchasing team driving innovation and efficiency.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 1 Procurement Process
Managing purchasing process for engineering materials and services PO/Contract.
Request for Proposal (RFP): Draft and distribute RFPs to potential vendors outlining specifications requirements for products or services needed.
Technical Liaison: Serve as point of contact between Ops and Suppliers to clarify technical specifications or resolve issues.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 2 Contract Negotiation and Compliance
Negotiations: Lead negotiations with contractors to secure favorable terms and conditions for engineering projects.
Cost analysis: Perform detailed cost analysis to identify optimal purchasing options aligned with budget constraints and quality standards
Quality assurance: Collaborate with the QA team to ensure the purchased materials meet all quality metrics.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 3 Supplier Management
Supplier relationship management: Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers of engineering materials and components
Vendor Evaluation: Conduct assessment to identify and qualify vendors based on quality cost and reliability
Conflict Management: Collaborating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve any technical issue
4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 4 Team Leadership and Performance
Performance Reporting: Monitor and analyzing purchasing activities to identify areas for improvement
Coaching: Providing guidance and technical support to purchasing staff
Continues Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and driving efficiencies
