Summary
Come Join our team! King County Fleet Services Division is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to serve as its Zero Emissions Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for supporting efforts in advancing the Countys Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP) goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in County transportation through fleet electrification and zero emission vehicles. Fleet Services leads the electric vehicle and zero emissions planning and transition efforts for a fleet of over 3000 assets.
The Zero Emissions Program Coordinatorplays a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation in King County operations. Under the direction of the Director this position coordinates and supports the implementation of electric and zero-emission vehicles in the Countys fleet. The ideal candidate also possesses strong project management skills with a focus on collaboration and customer engagement and has a passion for fleet sustainability.
ABOUT FLEET SERVICES DIVISION
The Fleet Services Division manages King Countys portfolio of vehicles and equipment. The team performs acquisition maintenance repair replacement and disposal of approximately 3000 fleet assets for the Countys services associated with the Sheriffs Office Public Health Roads Parks Wastewater Water and Land Resources and other agencies. The division manages two maintenance shops which include robust storerooms of automotive parts materials and construction supplies as well as several technicians working in the field to support remote customer sites.
In addition the Fleet Division is responsible for the disposition of the countys personal property assets which includes a surplus warehouse in Georgetown. Disposal methods can include re-use within the county donation to verified and approved non-profits and sales through online portals or sealed/negotiated bids.The mission of the Fleet Services Team is providing exceptional customer service in the delivery of equitable sustainable and dependable fleet solutions.

Job Duties
This program coordinator will:
- Support Fleet climate and sustainability team efforts including vehicle electrification alternative fuel implementation and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in transportation.
- Stay current on industry best practices and trends in sustainability electric vehicle technologies and other emerging zero-emission vehicle technologies.
- Support development of standard work Fleet business processes and policies in implementation of new programs and systems such as centralized charge management and payment processes for public charging.
- Collaborate with other Fleet team members and customers to support plans in EV infrastructure and supply equipment across King County.
- Analyze and support implementation of policies that support EV adoption including incentives regulations and partnerships.
- Support the vehicle purchasing process to ensure implementation of zero emission vehicles that meet operational needs across the County.
- Monitor track and coordinate contracts with EV and infrastructure vendors and consulting partners.
- Support reporting on program progress ensuring alignment with SCAP targets.
Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL:
- Have a background in zero emission vehicle efforts sustainability OR any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position.
- Be collaborative in their approach to project management; can support and execute project or program tasks with key agency partners.
- Be a champion for Equity & Social Justice. Understands that systematic racism and its long-term effects are pervasive in our society. Is comfortable having candid and sincere conversations with all employees and stakeholders about race and equity in our work.
- Be a champion for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in County operations. Understand and/or research the latest strategies technologies markets and options in support of reducing carbon emissions in our Fleet.
- Be customer-focused and comfortable working with customers stakeholders and senior leadership about complex initiatives polices and issues.
- Be able to persevere and adapt as required while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Any combination of education and experience.
Supplemental Information
WORK LOCATION:This position requires candidates to live in Washington State and within a reasonable commuting distance to their worksite.
