Job Description

DESCRIPTION

Napa Valley College is seeking aNetwork Administratorin theInstitutional Technology(IT)department.


The incumbent in this position willbedesigning configuring installing maintaining and repairing network systems subsystems and servers; overseeing the computer/server room operation and environment; providing information direction and recommendations regarding network installations and configurations; resolving network operational issues; and providing technical support to college and staff.

This job reports to the Director ITOperations.


This is a full-time 12-months-per-year classified position. The salary has an appropriate placement on range31of the current Classified Salary Schedule. The salary range is $6372to$7376/month with future steps up to $8966/month. Placement is made based on experience. The college offers a fringe benefit package including medical dental vision disability and life insurance employee assistance program and public employee retirement system membership.

SKILLSare required toperform multiplehighly complex technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skillsin order tomeet changing job conditions. Specificskill basedcompetenciesto satisfactorily perform the functions of the jobinclude:utilizing pertinent network application operating system monitoring and troubleshooting software; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; and preparing andmaintainingaccuraterecords.

KNOWLEDGEis required toperform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specificknowledge basedcompetenciesto satisfactorily perform the functions of the jobinclude:current legacy and emerging operating systems; environments and network protocols; router configurations; Inter/Intranet applications; data security; and projectmanagement processesand methodology.

ABILITYis required toschedule activities meetings and/or events; often gather collate and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility isto independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with datautilizingdefined but different processes; andutilizeequipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Responsibility:
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading guiding and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget.Utilizationof significant resources from other work unitsis sometimes required toperform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantlyimpactthe organizations services.

Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.Generally thejob requires 50% sitting 25% walking and 25% standing. The job is performed in agenerally hazard-freeenvironment.

Experience:
Three (3) years of job-related experience within a specialized field.

Education:
Bachelorsdegree in job-related area.

Equivalency:
Community college and/or vocational school degree with network certification and five (5) years of job-related experience.

Certificates and Licenses:
Valid CA Drivers License & Evidence of Insurability

Continuing Education / Training:
Maintains Certificates and/or Licenses

Clearances:
Criminal Background Clearance
Tuberculosis Clearance

Title 8 USC Section 1324-A requires verification of eligibility for employment in the United States.
