Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified HMOs for a full-time appointment to Alfred Health as an Ophthalmology Senior Registrar (5th year position) in 2025. This successful candidate could start immediately to fill a current vacancy until November with potential to extend until the end of the clinical year.
Candidates will have successfully completed their RACE exams or equivalent and be able to operate independently.
The clinics are well supported by 14 different consultant ophthalmologists with subspecialty training in medical retina uveitis glaucoma oculoplastics cornea and strabismus. The Unit provides ophthalmology services to a large mix of general hospital and trauma inpatients providing exposure to an exceptional range of conditions.
Duties will include:
two or three unsupervised operating lists per week;
one medical retina clinic per week (with laser and intravitreal injections);
two general ophthalmology clinics per week;
one cataract clinic per week;
one in three weeks on call;
supervision of junior registrars and resident;
medical student teaching.
Due to time constraints there is a preference for applicants to have unrestricted AHPRA registration and have valid working rights in Australia.
