We are currently seeking:
An Intern to join our Planning and Development Services team. In this role you will work under the general supervision of the Planning & Development Services Administrator and Senior Planner assist with planning and development projects specifically concerning records management and data mapping and more generally encompassing research analysis preparing plans reports studies and presentation of data.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering data on land use zoning demographics transportation and environmental factors.
- Assisting in analyzing spatial data using GIS software.
- Updating cases to our GIS maps to reflect true and accurate information for front line decision makers
- Creating maps charts and other visual aids using ArcGIS and other design related software programs.
- Participating in the preparation of planning-related reports studies special projects and research.
- Assisting in reviewing development proposals zoning applications or site plans.
- Maintaining and organizing planning documents and records.
- Scheduling meetings maintaining project files and performing other administrative duties as needed.
- Assisting internal and external customers by providing information concerning city planning.
- Hours: 20-25 hours each week
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate student in urban planning urban design architecture or related field.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- A Texas Driver License with a good driving record is required.
- Applicants with an out-of-state drivers license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Required Knowledge of:
- Ability to comprehend and apply multiple ordinances and policies with an interest in geospatial analysis and storytelling through data.
