South East Cornerstone Public School Division is seeking the services of a dedicated Career Development Counsellor to work with students attending the following schools:
Gordon F. Kells High School Wawota Parkland School Redvers School Maryfield School McNaughton High School and Rocanville School
Position Details: 0.60 FTE Replacement
Assignment: Career Development Counselling (Itinerant)

End Date: June 30 2026
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide individual career counselling guidance occupational information professional development assistance and job search strategies to students. This can include:
- Administer testing materials such as aptitude skills or personality assessments to get further information. - Provide career counselling for difficult and hard-to-place students and make referrals to other agencies with the support of student services.
- Discuss with students specific jobs the type of work that is performed and entry requirements.
- Provide professional development services to students such as resume review job search skills interview preparation mock interviews networking professional workplace behaviour skills and career event preparation.
- Work collaboratively with other departments or agencies to maximize career opportunities for students.
- Provide current information about employment opportunities and labour market trends to students.
- Maintain open and ongoing communication with relevant outside agencies and schools.
- Support teachers of career education.
- Coordinate career development opportunities.
- Coordinate assist and participate in on-campus employer information sessions.
- Participate in career fairs employer visits and University events that increase visibility and awareness of career counseling.
- Participate in the development of career services and employability skills policies.
- Engage families in the career planning process.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of student contact.
- Be willing to engage in life-long learning with respect to training and professional development.
- Conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to a professional learning environment.
- Other duties as required by the Coordinator of Curriculum.
Required Education Knowledge Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent degree
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching and/or career counselling experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Ministry of Education initiatives as they pertain to Career Counselling
- Knowledge of the role of other agencies in the support of career counselling and career development
- Knowledge of best practices in career counselling
- Knowledge in the operation of computers word processing applications and additional software comparable to those currently used in the school division. I.e. Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint etc.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated Provincial Collective Bargaining Agreement and Locally Negotiated Teacher Agreement.
