Director of Osteopathic Education Centra LFMR burg VA



Centra burg Family Medicine Residency (LFMR) Program seeks a board certified (ABOFP or ABFM) Osteopathic Family Medicine physician to work as a leader in the Osteopathic space for the program to advance training opportunities for DO residents.

You will provide primary care family medicine services including OMM in our LFMR clinic and work alongside other DO s whose goal is to improve access to osteopathic evaluation and treatment for our patients.

Centra has a single residency burg Family Medicine Residency Program (LFMR) that has been continually accredited by the ACGME since 1976 and is a 3-year program with a great faculty staff ratio and 9 residents per year.


You Can Expect:

Teaching Requirements:
  • Actively participates in teaching our residents to include 1-2 lectures per month one of which is an osteopathic manipulation workshop for both DO s and MD s
  • You will have the opportunity to teach DO residents to include precept/supervise residents as they incorporate osteopathic manipulation in the continuity clinic.
  • Serve as a core Family medicine teaching faculty member for LFMR residents.
  • As a leader in this space you will participate in resident evaluation with the CCC and program evaluation committee which will also include quarterly feedback to residents and reports for the CCC
Director of Osteopathic Education:
  • Assist LFMR Program Director in obtaining and maintaining ACGME Osteopathic Recognition by administering Osteopathic longitudinal curriculum.
  • Maintain and keep current Osteopathic Recognition requirements.
  • Update and adjust the osteopathic curriculum to fit the expertise and focus of the Director of Osteopathic Recognition and DO faculty.
  • Coordinate osteopathic curriculum with faculty members.
  • Review all osteopathic applicant files and interview candidates NRMP match.
  • Inpatient rotation optional

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of medical degree and ACGME or AOA residency training family medicine
  • DO with certification by ABOFP or ABFM
  • Prior teaching experience required preferably greater than 3 years of post-residency teaching experience.
  • Required prior experience teaching Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment with medical students and/or resident physicians
