Job Title:Communications Specialist
Reports to:Communications Officer
Dept./School:Communications Office
Work under minimal supervision to organize and perform the routine work activities of the public information office. Assist with preparation of written materials for district publications as well as videography.
Education/Certification:
Associates degree
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated skills in writing proofreading editing desktop publishing photography and vidoegraphy.
Excellent public relations organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions short correspondence and memos
Ability to perform a variety of tasks often changing assignments on short notice with little or no direction
Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets perform data analysis and do word processing
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Ability to meet established deadlines
Experience:
years editorial or desktop publishing experience

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; camera(s) video cameras; desktop publishing software
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
